New era of lay leadership continues at Marymount International School Paris

Sept. 6, 2011 - PRLog -- September 6, 2011- Neuilly-sur-Seine, France:  Marymount International School, Paris,
is pleased to announce the arrival of Mr. Ari Cohen as Director of Curriculum and Student Programs. Mr. Cohen now joins the ranks of the new era of lay leadership of the nearly 90 year old Catholic institution.

Mr. Cohen joins Marymount after an already exceptional career in education, beginning with ten years of teaching experiences for kindergarten and 1st grade levels. Mr. Cohen very literally launched his career overseas, responding to an invitation to volunteer from the Tibetan Government in Exile, Department of Education in Dharamsala, India. While there, he taught pre-school and kindergarten aged children and conducted research on the subject of vernacularism in the exiled Tibetan educational system. From there, Mr. Cohen taught first grade at the Thomas Jefferson Elementary School in Compton, California followed by PS 189 in New York City. Mr. Cohen became a full-time administrator in the Durham, North Carolina school district in 2003 serving first at the Forest View Elementary School and finally at the Southwest Elementary School as principal since 2006.

Mr. Cohen was selected among a strong field of candidates to serve as Director of Curriculum and Student Programs at Marymount International School, Paris. As a Catholic, international school serving children from over forty countries and all religious faiths, Mr. Cohen was chosen due to his exceptional experience in teaching and administration coupled with his international outlook and global experience. Mr. Cohen holds a B.A. in English from the University of Rochester in New York and a Masters in Education Management from the University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill.

Marymount International School, Paris wishes Mr. Cohen, his wife Stefanie and his daughters Sofia and Eloise, who will also be students at Marymount, a rich and rewarding experience with the school.
