Sept. 6, 2011 - PRLog -- Bangkok’s central location in Southeast Asia naturally makes the city the hub for travel in the region. Naturally, the city receives its fair share of visitors, with almost 16 million visitors accounted for in 2010. Many make an extended stay in the Thai capital, experiencing many of the city’s main sights. Few see the rural side of the city, a side Exotissimo is proud to show with its Thai Countryside daytrip.

Starting from their hotel, travelers will head over to Taksin Pier on the Chao Phraya River, crossing over to the less developed side of Nonthaburi. Here, the visitor count is much smaller and the temples les-visited, such as Wat Kanlayanamit, built during the reign of King Rama III.

Once dubbed the Venice of the East, Bangkok still has many waterways, despite its rapid development into a modern megacity. Many of these canals lead to almost rural-like villages. A longtail boat passing small temples, farmyards, villages, fields and orchids remind travelers that a rural side of Bangkok exists.

“This is an interesting day trip, a highly recommended one if you want to experience something beyond the main sites,” said Soonie Wattanahongsiri, Product Manager of Exotissimo Thailand. “I myself found it fascinating to realize that Bangkok does have these patches of countryside environments. And I am a resident here!”

Travelers then continue by car to Nonthaburi for lunch lunch at a local restaurant before heading off to Koh Kred. A visit to Wat Paramai Yikawat, where a reclining Buddha and Mon style stupa are housed followed by a stop to an ancient Mon pottery village concludes the memorable unique Bangkok day trip.
