This is Dr. Melvin T Jones, pastor of Union Missionary Baptist Church here in Lansing, Michigan. On March 14th of this year, Derrineshia Clay was brutally shot down inside the Bank of America on Martin Luther King Jr. Blvd. by a police officer. Since that time, not only have we not received adequate answers to our concerns, but have been avoided by the arrogance of politicians and decision-makers at the highest levels.
On, Tuesday, September 6, we will hold a follow-up meeting at Union Missionary Baptist Church 500 S MLK Blvd @ 6:30 pm. We have invited the Mayor, the President of City Council, The Police Chief, the County Prosecutor, the Michigan State Police Investigator, and the Chairman of the Police Board of Commissioners to answer our questions.
This is a call to action. We need you to be present so that we can hold people accountable who have the power to take a human life. Please come and be with us. The life you save might be your own.
