Sept. 5, 2011 - PRLog -- The Institute for Financial Markets and the Futures Industry Association will co-host the first-ever Turkish Derivatives Conference, on 19-20 September, 2011 in Istanbul. This will mark the first time the IFM and FIA have jointly hosted such an event which focuses on a specific emerging market like Turkey.  The conference is geared to the local, regional and global investor community.

“Our markets are truly global. As investors reach to new markets, it has never been more critical than now to bring together industry experts and regulators to discuss developments in this important marketplace,” said John Damgard, FIA's chief.

The Turkish Derivatives Conference will bring together global financial institutions, exchanges, trading firms and professionals to discuss industry trends, discuss market practices and hear expert views on key issues. The conference also supports Turkey’s efforts to make Istanbul a regional and global financial center. “Istanbul is an important financial center, both regionally and globally.  The IFM is thrilled to provide quality instruction through investor educational workshops which focus on these derivative markets and their participants,” said IFM Chairman Peter F. Borish.

This conference will feature panel discussions with important financial industry and global exchange leaders. Sessions topics include futures and options trading and strategies, algorithmic trading, developments in financial regulatory reform and the impact on trading, changes in global market structure, and much more.

Dr. Vedat Akgiray, Chairman of the Capital Markets Board (SPK), and Chairman of IOSCO’s Emerging Markets Committee, will be the opening keynote speaker. “As Turkey’s markets continue to grow, it is important for our nation's experts and investors to discuss and keep abreast of infrastructure innovations, new products, technologies and to ensure safeguards,” said Akgiray.

The Turkish Derivatives Conference will include a tradeshow and networking opportunities to build high-value connections with industry professionals.
