Website Launched to Offer Advice on Fallen Arches

Website launched to improve understanding on fallen arches, flat feet and the problems that can result if the conditions are not corrected.

Sept. 5, 2011 - PRLog -- The feet are often unloved, and are really made to work hard without being given the proper resources for the job. Poor quality footwear, inappropriate shoes, and a general increase in average body weight have all placed extra pressures on the foot arches, with the feet being made to take an even increasing strain as each generation passes. Naturally for many people, the foot arches cannot take the strain and fallen arches are often the result. The full or partial collapse of the foot arch is the subject of a new website, aiming to improve awareness of foot problems to help maintain the health of the feet.

Fallenarches.org was created by Jennifer Lee, a firm believer in improving the health of the body, by starting with the feet. “Taking proper care of the feet is vital for maintaining good foot health. The feet are often neglected, and being able to spot problems early is the best way to limit damage” says Steven Widmore creator of Fallenarches.org

Fallen arches not only lead to foot arch pain, but are implicated in a number of different musculoskeletal problems throughout the lower body. Fallen arches tend to make the feet roll excessively when walking and running. This gait irregularity, termed overpronation, places an increased strain on the muscles, bones and tendons throughout the lower body. It makes shin splints more likely, and can cause a wide range of foot and ankle issues.

Fallen arches change the posture of the body, and even small misalignment's can have serious repercussions, leading to joint, hip, and lower back pain. The strain placed on the cuboid and tarsal bones in the mid and rear of the foot is increased, and excess forces can be transferred to the metatarsals. Stress fractures of these bones, arthritic damage to joints and strains on the muscles can all take their toll.

The new website aims to educate readers on fallen arches and their causes, to help prevent the condition from becoming a problem. For any sufferers of flat feet or collapsed arches, there is further information available on treatments, supports and choosing the right products to match requirements.

“Because fallen arches are such a common problem, there is now an extensive choice of insoles, shoe inserts and orthotic insoles which can be slipped inside any shoe and no one will be any the wiser. Getting treatment for flat feet and fallen arches has never been easier!” says Widmore.
