Pistols to Pencils Youth Receive Media Credentials 4 FRED HAMMOND Gospel Concert

Sept. 2, 2011 - PRLog -- Ashlie Delgado and Brian Walker Jr. were chosen students within the From Pistols To Pencils (P2P) program to interview individuals backstage at the Fred Hammond, Martha Munizzi & Kierra Sheard Gospel Concert which takes place on Friday, September 2, 2011 @ the Citizens Business Bank Arena located at 4000 E. Ontario, Center Parkway in Ontario, Ca. at 8pm.  http://www.cbbankarena.com

Why?  From the birth of P2P, these students have been actively and consistently participating in all the workshops, training and events that have been scheduled!  “Their leadership, willing to learn and positive attitude to make a difference in their community speaks loud and clear!” states Terrance Stone, Director P2P.

Through KRPR Media, KimiRhochelle, (owner) has been looking for opportunities to bring young, entrepreneurial youth into actual production type settings where they can utilized trained skills in various capacities. “This was the perfect opportunity and the producers of the concert, Bridgette Nelson and Willie Washington, allowed the P2P students to be backstage interviewing various individuals, take pictures, watch the concert and write about the event which will be distributed to main stream media for their 1st feature story…we are all honored and very much excited!” states KimiRhochelle. http://www.krprmedia.com

P2P is a FREE Youth Advocacy & Multi-Media Training program designed to reduce the number of incarcerated youth, give young people a voice and to help recruit new members for the Pistols to Pencils Program.

Within the program, youth receive training on:
•   CREATIVE WRITING
•   CREATING ARTISTIC WAYS TO PROMOTE ANTI-GUN VIOLENCE THROUGH RADIO
•   TV
•   YOUTUBE & NEWSLETTERS
•   PERFORM/PRODUCE CONCERTS/SHOWCASES
•   TO BECOME A LEADER IN THEIR COMMUNITY

In addition, youth are educated on their rights, on policies and laws that affect them and trained to be youth organizers by creating various campaigns to lobby for institutional and community changes that are of importance to them.

From Pistols 2 Pencils Program (P2P)’s action core is against violence advocacy group and has youth led project that advocates against the issues of gun and gang violence within the community.  P2P is funded by The California Endowment and accepts community donations.

P2P is a program within Young Visionaries Youth Leadership Academy, an award winning nonprofit youth organization created by Terrance Stone that has been proudly serving the youth of San Bernardino County since 2001. The organization's purpose is to help enrich the lives of young people through life building activities and instruction in the areas of education, employment, health, mentoring, and community service. Since its founding, YVYLA has provided services and resources to over 10,000 community youth with training in a number of subjects; academic development, violence prevention, employment development, leadership and

life skills development, and teen pregnancy prevention to name a few, in addition to delivering some of the area's most memorable events for youth entertainment.  http://www.yvyla-ie.org/

P2P has collaborated with Mutivation Youth Services (MYS), a nonprofit organization designed to provide various self help programs to enrich our society's youth, adults, families, and communities under the direction of Robert “Smoov” Bryant.  MYS has provided services throughout Northern and Southern California 2005. MYS’s mission is to provide self-help programs and outreach services to our communities at either NO cost or LOW cost and incorporates entertainment to empower and enrich lives.  http://mutivationyouth.com/

Since the P2P program started in October of 2009, P2P works have been cited in various community newspapers (Press Enterprise, The Sun), local television (KABC Channel 7), and major mainstream radio (105.9 Power 106 and 99.1 KGGI) due to successful events produced such as:

Violence Awareness Assembly- to students at San Bernardino High School (San Bernardino, CA.) a star studded event with special guest Def Jam Recording Artist "YG", Actor "Marcus Paulk" (Moesha, Roll Bounce, Another Cinderella Story..etc)and LA's Hottest New R&B Group "LOCKE."

Dr. Cornell West- Having more than 2,500 guests, a total of four events, all in one day! First stop at Riverside Community College (over 1,200 guests) with many high school and college students. Next, UC Riverside where we were greeted with another over-capacity crowd of guests of all ages, races, and backgrounds. To wrap-up the long day we ended at Riverside’s own, Crescent Jewell Restaurant. There we had a live band, celebrity performances, great food, and fun.

ABOUT:
Robert “Smoov” Bryant Jr began his music career as a musician playing the keyboard and drums for Los Angeles and Inland Empire churches. He later began his professional career singing background vocals for R&B greats Jon B, Chico Debarge, and Loose Endz. Signing management with Elite Entertainment, Hollywood’s premier club promoters Ted Dozier and Curtis Mitchell took Robert to success. Robert shared the stage with some of R&B’s elite artist such as Rahsaan Patterson, Mint Condition, Aaron Hall, Blu Cantell, Dave Hollister, Deborah Cox, Brian McKnight, Robin Thicke, and many other mainstream artists.

He later went on to music direct, music produce, and write for R&B and Hip Hop award winners Jesse Powell, NEXT, Cuba Gooding Sr., J Boog and LiL Fizz of B2K, and Money B of Digital Underground/ 2 Pac. Catching the eye of Legendary Multi-Grammy Award Winnning Music Producer Teddy Riley, Robert and childhood friend Michael Marcy were offered a production contract which they later declined.

Robert had a desire to continue his education and was offered a music scholarship at Cal Baptist University (Riverside, CA). He gladly accepted, and it was there that he made plans to own an organization that would service the community’s needs. While doing music part-time he was employed as a counselor for various social service organizations. Robert has held positions as a Substance Abuse Counselor as well as a Mental Heath Specialist. He later explored options in The California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation and was hired as a Behavioral Modification Counselor. Within the department he was promoted to organize and instruct different programs such as gang intervention, parenting, and even a music program. Later promoted to assist on the Corrections Board of Prison Terms. In addition Robert is certified in Anger Management, Parenting, and CPR/AED.

Now with a well-rounded knowledge of social needs Robert has founded, developed, and organized Mutivation Youth Services. MYS mission is to provide self help programs and outreach services to our communities at either no cost or low cost. MYS vision is to become an elite provider in self motivation. MYS currently offers programs for youth, adults, families, and community outreach. With this musical talent along with several years as a counselor, he has joined his two passions to try and make a difference
