Chicago Baby Boutique Be By Baby! Celebrates its Fifth Anniversary

Sept. 2, 2011 - PRLog -- Five years ago, Courtney Baros and Kathy Poehlmann were new mothers looking for a store that sold natural parenting products like nursing bras, baby carriers and cloth diapers. The two friends quickly realized that no such place existed. To fill the void, Baros and Poehlmann made the decision to start a retail and resource center called Be By Baby!, named as such because they wanted to encourage parents to “be by their babies.”

Be By Baby! opened their doors on Chicago’s North Side in 2006 and are now celebrating their fifth anniversary year. Be By Baby! offers parents a large selection of eco-friendly products.

Be By Baby! is different than typical baby stores in several ways. “Products in our store are chosen by moms,” Baros said. “We wouldn’t sell anything we wouldn’t use ourselves.” Be By Baby! has an extensive selection of baby carriers, cloth diapers, natural toys and infant apparel amongst their offerings.  Be By Baby! also has one of the largest inventories of nursing bras in the country. They offer professional nursing bra fittings and carry nursing bras with cup sizes A-K.

In addition to the retail side of the business, they sought to create a community where mothers could meet and support one another through classes and groups.
“We liken Be By Baby! to a ‘mini-village’ for parents,” says Poehlmann. “We offer walk-in breastfeeding clinics with board certified lactation consultants, birth classes taught by doulas and midwives, baby wearing classes to promote a way to bond with your baby, breastfeeding classes,  infant massage classes, and music classes, to name a few.”

“We are so happy to be celebrating our 5th anniversary,” says Baros. Be By Baby! has been visited by thousands of parents over the years and has become known for quality products, fantastic classes and a community of support.
