Jamie Orrick Managing Director of Orrick Marketing Solutions says is was “a fantastic day and can’t believe we hadn’t attend before. There was so much to see and do and gave you an insight to the West Indian culture and background. The procession took about 3 hours and it leads you around the Chapel town area of Leeds.
The carnival features 2000 costumed dancers, 35 Mas or Masquerade bands, 22 floats and two steel bands. Live music, sound systems and numerous stalls in the park provided lively entertainment and Caribbean food for the carnival goers. Jamie Orrick says “Caribbean food is amazing and I have never tasted anything like it before”. The Leeds West Indian Carnival first originated in 1967 and was founded by Arthur France. It is the single biggest crowd puller for the city, with up to 150,000 people expected over the bank holiday weekend.
