The Brown Hotel Presents a Penfolds Wine Dinner

Featuring the Rare, World Famous Grange Wine

Sept. 1, 2011 - PRLog -- The Brown Hotel announces a special Penfolds Wine Dinner,
7:00 pm Thursday, September 15, 2011, in The English Grill. The guest speaker will be Steve Lienert, Senior Red Winemaker from Penfolds Wines in Australia. The dinner features an entrée pairing with Grange, one of the world’s finest red wines, with each vintage eagerly awaited by collectors both in Australia and overseas.

A thoughtful winemaker and the man responsible for guiding Penfolds red wines through vintage and maturation day by day, Steve Lienert has lived in the Barossa his entire life and followed his father into the industry beginning his career in the cellar in 1978. Mr. Lienert’s not one to answer questions immediately, preferring to listen carefully to all before considering his response. Inevitably his answer provides insight with few words, giving one pause to consider his words and their multitude of meanings.

The 5-course wine pairing dinner created by The Brown Hotel Executive Chef Laurent Géroli, and his four-diamond culinary staff will begin with Australian Poached Langouste with Tarragon Emulsion, Fig and Peach Chutney paired with Bin 51 Eden Valley Riesling 2010. The second course of Prosciutto Wrapped Prawns,
Pork Belly and White Bean Ragout with Cranberry Beurre Blanc will be paired with St. Henri Shiraz 2006. Next will be a course of Herb Roasted Ostrich, Camargue Rice with Dried Apricots and Makers 46 Emulsion to be paired with Bin 138 Barossa Valley Grenache Mourvedre Shiraz 2007. An entrée of Pan Seared Virginia Lamb Loin with Cracked Black Peppercorn and Roasted Chili Polenta with Wild Berry Gastrique will be paired with Grange 2004 and RWT 2008. The dessert course will feature a Decadent Combination of Raspberry Cream and Dark Chocolate Mousse, Raspberry Infused Chocolate Cake paired with the Grandfather Rare Tawny.

The cost of the Wine Dinner is $75 per person plus tax and gratuity. Seating is limited. Guests may call Ellen Crouch, English Grill Manager, for reservations (502) 736-2998.

“We are very lucky to have this rare visit by Steve Lienert,” said Ellen Crouch, English Grill Manager. “Due to Hurricane Irene Mr. Lienert’s American tour has been quickly rerouted through Louisville.”

The Brown Hotel retail partner for this event is Westport Whiskey & Wine. At the dinner, guests will have the opportunity to order bottles and/or cases of the featured wines at a 15% discount. Orders will be available for pick-up beginning Friday, September 16 at Westport Whiskey & Wine located in Westport Village, Herr Lane at Westport Road.
