Sept. 1, 2011 - PRLog -- The Glynn Vivian Art Gallery summer exhibitions are drawing to a close but there is still time to catch them before they end on Sunday 4 September.

I Know Something About Love part II, originated by Parasol unit foundation for contemporary art, brings together the work of international artists Shirin Neshat and Yang Fudong, and rising star Christodoulos Panayiotou.  Through their films, the artists investigate the theme of love in different times and cultures.

Welsh artist Laura Ford’s exhibition, Beast and Other Works, brings together a collection of fascinating, dreamlike sculptures including Beast from the Gallery’s collection and more recent works including Espalier Girl (2006), and a previously unseen new work entitled Mummers (2011).

Also finishing this weekend is the exhibition of new works by the inaugural Jerwood Painting Fellows, Clare Mitten, Cara Nahaul and Corinna Till.

Jerwood Painting Fellowships are part of Jerwood Visual Arts, a contemporary gallery programme of awards, exhibitions and events where mentors Paul Bonaventura, Stephen Farthing RA and Chantal Joffe assist and engage with the Fellows, both in critical review of their work, and by aiding their professional development.

Selected works from the Gallery’s collection will continue to be on display including the 2011 Richard and Rosemary Purchase Award Winner, Meri Wells and works by celebrated Welsh painter, Evan Walters.

For full details, visit http://www.swansea.gov.uk/glynnvivian or telephone the Gallery Reception on 01792 516900. All exhibitions at the Gallery are free.
