By: Clayton Valley Woman's Club The presentation is based on the pair’s recently released book, Mount Diablo, The Extraordinary Life and Landscapes of a California Treasure, published by the local nonprofit Mount Diablo Interpretive Association (www.mdia.org) Mount Diablo is one of Northern California’s most significant and adored treasures, with place names like Oyster Point, Fossil Ridge, Balancing Rock, Devils Elbow, Juniper Camp, Jackass Canyon, China Wall, Staircase Trail, Prospectors Gap, and Garden of the Jungle Gods. With its incomparable natural beauty, rich geological mysteries, and endless recreational opportunities, Contra Costans are fortunate to have this extraordinary land in their own backyards. Stephen Joseph has been hiking and photographing Mount Diablo for more than 25 years; his lush images and panoramic creations are well known and highly prized. At the September 13 presentation, Joseph will take attendees on an up close and personal journey around Mount Diablo as he shares exquisite photographs and personal tales of the popular places and hidden faces of this natural wonder. Few have seen Mount Diablo quite like this – in expansive panoramas and portraits rich in light, color, and detail. The presentation includes Q&A, and concludes with book sales ($40) and signing.
