Let me tell you about Erika. She was the most beautiful girl in the world. Well, in my world anyway, and I'm not saying my world was ever so huge and so cosmopolitan that it could barely contain itself, but it wasn't that small or provincial either. It was just that she was a goddess. A real, live goddess. That's what I called her, to myself, The Goddess.
She always knew just what to do. No matter what the difficulty or the puzzle to be solved, Erika seemed to know instinctively what needed to be done to either make it go away or make it seem like someone else's problem to deal with. She was well, sly that way, I guess. It's not a word I generally like to apply to women, and I'm positively cringing at the thought of it even being in the same sentence as Erika's name, but truthfully? I just can't think of a better word to describe how she was about these things.
How I met Erika isn't all that important….
