Mary Lynn added, “If someone is able to effectively and engagingly discuss their business within the first few minutes of meeting someone at an event, they will be more likely to have an opportunity for follow up with that person. It is also very important to hone your listening skills, and be genuinely interested in what the other person is saying about their business. If we start to think of business referrals that we can send other people, and are genuinely engaged in what they are saying, others will begin to do the same for us.
