Aug. 31, 2011 - PRLog -- As the nights start to draw in and the weather turns a little cooler, that autumnal feeling starts to creep in which means that Halloween is only just around the corner.

Halloween is gaining in popularity in the UK with more people celebrating with Halloween parties or accompanying children who want to go trick or treating.  Another growing activity is ghost walks, with most major towns and cities having a local ghost walk along dark and creepy lanes or maybe a castle with dungeons!

If you love being scared or know someone who would like to learn about local history and ghost stories then Halloween is the ideal time to enjoy a ghost walk.   You will be surprised that most towns have some kind of creepy history about local ghouls who still come back on occasions to visit the living! You can even book for a group of friends to go and make it a real Halloween party, many ghost walks will finish off in a local public house to enjoy a few drinks and settle the nerves!

Whether you want to visit London and tour the streets of White Chapel and follow in the footsteps of Jack the Ripper or prefer a local ghost walk, it can add up to a really entertaining evening of ghostly fun with a few scares along the way.

Another famous London venue opening this year for Halloween ghost tours is Prince William and Kate’s London residence of Kensington Palace.  There have been many rumours about Kensington Palace being haunted with lots of weird and scary stories having been told over the years.  The palace has long been speculated to house a number of ghouls, including the spirit of Queen Mary, Peter the Wild Boy and an anonymous sinister figure, who has been spotted at various windows in the property.

If you want to spend more than just a few hours looking for ghosts this Halloween, then there are many venues throughout the UK who offer ghost hunts (http://www.redletterdays.co.uk/Experience/Ref/XPARC/An-Ov...).  Many ghost hunts allow you to spend the night in some of the most haunted buildings known such as prisons, pubs, haunted houses and more.  If you dare, you can spend the night investigating paranormal activity with other like minded people who want to see ghosts and unexplainable strange occurrences.  This may not be for the faint hearted but offers a unique opportunity to experience firsthand ghostly goings on in scary haunted buildings.

Red Letter Days offer a scary selection of ghost walks and overnight ghost hunts throughout the UK so take a look, if you dare!  Happy Halloween!
