Great Time to Invest in Real Estate in South Dakota

Aug. 30, 2011 - PRLog -- Right now the overall real estate market in our country is in a slump. States with economies that are dependent on energy, industry or agriculture, like South Dakota, are showing signs of recovery, though.

During the housing boom, the prices in the Midwest did not rise like they did in other states. South Dakota is listed as one of the “least vulnerable” markets according to Capital Economics economist Paul Dales.

“If you’re in the market for new real estate, then now is a great time to invest,” said Joe Bennington, a broker associate with Coldwell Banker Lewis-Kirkeby-Hall in Rapid City. “Our economy has remained relatively stable over the past few years and price declines are not very likely.”

South Dakota also boasts one of the nation’s lowest unemployment rates. In May 2011, the nationwide unemployment rate was 9.1%; South Dakota’s was only 4.8%.

“Our master plan will create even more jobs in the area, further helping our economy,” said Bennington.
