Aug. 30, 2011 - PRLog -- Touted as an internet think tank for conscious consumption, the webzine – asks readers to give their consumption habits a second look and brings together sustainability and business experts, celebrities, and everyday consumers to address the question: ‘What does a more ethical marketplace look like, and how do we get there?’ Proposed answers will be as diverse as they are varied, taking the form of interviews, blog posts, videos, or photographs. But don’t expect the material to be entirely philosophical in nature: mixed in with theoretical discussions about the issue of ethical purchasing will be shopping tips, easy-to-implement advice, and even humorous anecdotes.

“We’re looking forward to seeing the creative ways people will respond to this question. There’s an important shift needed in our consumption habits. We’re still not getting it. We need to encourage this new thinking and innovative ways to address the way we live now. We hope to be the catalyst for that conversation.” says CEO Anna Reeves.

“This is a chance for many different voices to directly engage with each other on important social and environmental issues: people taking the lead like eco-celeb Adrian Grenier to CEOs willing to make changes to their manufacturing processes, to ordinary people passionate about activating social change,” adds Executive Director, Vivienne Somers.

One Simple Ask has assembled a team of talented writers with diverse backgrounds to regularly weigh in with their opinions. Alongside OSA Editor Elizabeth Nakano are: Reem Abbas, founder of one of the first sustainability eco life sites for the Middle East and North Africa, prolific blogger and freelance eco-journalist Katie Kather; Tom Schueneman, a citizen journalist who has met with multiple World Leaders at many UN Climate Conferences including COP15; David Stockhausen, founder of Urban Farming initiative; and Timothy Tiernan, former editor at professional publishing house and freelance literary magazine writer. The opinions of regular contributors will also be contrasted against guest bloggers with expertise in particular fields. This Thursday, social responsibility and sustainable business practices advocate Clare Raybould will be featured.

The webzine will pave the way for the second phase of  the campaign: a revolutionary internet-based platform that allows the public to help design and market products for a cause. Explains Reeves, “It’s about giving people a voice, letting them contribute to a cause in a more collaborative fashion than they typically are able.” The platform is set for an October release.
