Plenty Of Reasons To Enjoy Autumn At Callaway Gardens®

Getaway for a Fall Break with Your Children, Friends and Family

Aug. 30, 2011 - PRLog -- PINE MOUNTAIN, GA – Finally, the milder Fall season has arrived.  Get outside and enjoy cooler temperatures, cool breezes and the autumnal color of the leaves.
Situated in the foothills of the Appalachian Mountains, Callaway Gardens’ 13,000 acres of pristine natural surroundings offer many breathtaking views of this scenic beauty.

In addition to the changing colors of the leaves, Fall is when Callaway Gardens is set ablaze with 10,000 brilliant chrysanthemums including garden mums, florist mums and cascading mums.  Named one of the 2011 Top 100 Events in the Nation by the American Bus Association, Chrysanthemum Season is definitely something to experience regardless if traveling by with your family or a large group.  The John A. Sibley Horticultural Center is one of the focal points for the cascading mums, which spill over their containers creating a waterfall of color, accenting the Sibley Center’s exotic plants, flowers and trees.  Interspersed among the mums will be topiaries in the forms of mythical creatures to entertain even the youngest of guests.

Throughout the Fall, special weekends include a Wine Weekend featuring a reception, cooking demonstration with lunch and a special Italian Wine Dinner (September 9-10); Girlfriends Getaway weekend (September 23-24); Guys Getaway Golf Package (September 5-October 31); New Harvest Moon Festival featuring national music acts and locally-sourced food and vendors (October 6-9); Mystery Dinner Theater with a little scream for Halloween (October 21); a Fall Gardening School to make Fall plantings successful (October 22); and the Nature Naturally package focusing on outdoor activities (November 11-13).
