Aug. 30, 2011 - Growing up in a more rural part of Southern California, Michael was surrounded by farm, horses, and dairies. His family had once leased large sections of the Santa Ana River basin to run cattle and owned calf ranches in the area. Today what is left of the family farm serves as the design studio and production center for Original Cowgirl/ Cowboy Clothing Co.™ Our family has been involved in ranching, farming, and rodeo going back as far as we can trace. With ancestors that were pony express riders, cotton farmers, and rodeo champions, they have a lot of history to draw on. Before coming to California Michael’s family was centered mostly in Texas and Missouri and eventually moved their way out to the rich agricultural area of the Chino Valley.
“Our family is reflected in almost every design from the type of cattle my mother raised in FFA to the names of businesses, people, and places. You find the names and even images of my grandparents and great grandparents mixed in with vintage style that gives the apparel a depth of meaning, even if it is only to members of our family,” said Michael.
