Low-rise Builder Launches Music Contest on Social Media

Aug. 30, 2011 - PRLog -- WHITBY - The latest GTA-wide music contest wasn’t launched by MTV or MuchMusic. It wasn’t even launched by a local radio station or a nightclub.

Instead, the Triumph Musician Search Contest was launched on July 11 on the Facebook page of Highmark Homes’ newest community. (Highmark Homes is a low-rise builder in the GTA.)

Aiming to promote Triumph in Whitby, an urban townhome community soon to be built in downtown Whitby, Highmark Homes decided it would tap into the fast-expanding world of social media. It did so for two reasons.

First, Triumph in Whitby is designed to appeal to a younger, hip, and social media-savvy demographic. These potential buyers, Highmark Homes reasons, are already on Twitter and Facebook, so it makes sense to reach out to them there.

Second, social media has made it more important for businesses to show they like to give back. By launching the Triumph Musician Search contest, Highmark Homes wants to show its appreciation for and support of local musicians, who will not only expose their work to the Triumph in Whitby online community, but also stand a chance to win $2,500.

The Triumph Musician Search Contest is open to all Greater Toronto Area musicians aged 18 or older, professional or amateur.
