Washington, D.C. – The @ttic, which features some of the best locally and nationally renowned spoken word artists, returns on September 3rd. After a 6-month hiatus, this poetry event still remains the biggest in D.C., and with its re-launch comes a new venue and new features. Dynamic HBO Def Poets Shihan and Black Ice entertain The @ttic audience, at its launch at Café Asia.

“The @ttic fills a void in the lack of poetry venues that recognize the true talent of spoken word,” says Beny Blaq, founder and CEO of Beny Blaq Entertainment. “I just knew it was time for us to come back, with more energy and passion, more features, and more surprises for our audience-- old and new,” says Blaq who will also be having his birthday bash during the after party.

After four years of continuous success, the event features artists who have had their talents displayed before millions on Russell Simmons: HBO’s Def Poetry Jam, BET's Lyrical Café, and other major television outlets. The varied audiences who attend this monthly event are proof that there is indeed a market for spoken word, and the rich culture that comes with it. As D.C.’s biggest spoken word event returns and continues to respect this unique artistry, there is no denying that audiences will be entertained, inspired and easily convinced that The @ttic is in fact “more than just poetry.”
