Pilani located in the heart of Shekhawati Rajasthan is well known in India today for the host of prestigious educational institutions as well as CSIR Laboratory CEERI apart from upcoming assembly centre for the strategically important BrahMos missiles project.

Welcoming the newly admitted students on 17 Aug 2011, Prof BR Natarajan Pro Vice Chancellor anchored a slideshow and gave an overview of the evolution of the university, campus layout and facilities available, academic programs offered, teaching and evaluation, registration process, industry partnerships, bank loan avenues, scholarships offered, cocurricular activities, etc and introduced the senior officers and faculty members of Shridhar University.
The international Youth Day – IYD 12 Aug 2011 messages sent by the four CNN – IBN Young Indian Leaders 2011 award winners Everest conqueror Anshu Jamsenpa, HarVa Ajay Chaturved, RTI activist Prashant Dubey and Foodking Sarathbabu were flashed to the freshmen. The orientation also included salient features of engineering workshop and science laboratory safety apart from basic life support first aid principles.
To a thunderous applause Prof Natarajan introduced Guest of Honour for the function Prof Azhar Kazmi from King Fahd University of Petroleum and Minerals (KFUPM) Dhahran Saudi Arabia. Prof Kazmi did his B.E. (Hons)
Prof Kazmi beyond academics is well known for his soul stirring singing prowess and is known to several generations of BITS alumni. Prof Azhar Kazmi is closely associated with mission with passion Kala Ankur “Where Talent search and Promotion” is a tradition founded in 1996 by a group of art-loving people of Ajmer with a strong commitment for the promotion of fine and performing arts and culture.
Prof Kazmi advised the students to make best use of the opportunities available at Shridhar University to become useful citizens for world at large and urged them to focus on communication skills, computer skills and mold themselves as excellent team players.
On behalf of the University, Prof Natarajan thanked Prof Azhar Kazmi for sparing his precious time to visit and share his wisdom for inspiring the faculty and students of Shridhar University Pilani.
