Submissions Guideline
Aug. 27, 2011 - PRLog -- At Katsujinken, we publish academic works, articles, comics, dojo features, essays, events (calendar of competitions and their results), fiction, interviews, journalistic features, mythos behind the arts, photography, poetry, sensei profiles, and stories. Surprise us; we often don't know what we'll like until we read it - we remain open to new ideas and talents. Presently, Katsujinken provides free copy of the magazine issue where submission is used. Additionally, we feature cost-incentives on advertising for submitters. Eventually, we intend to provide payment for submission.

Katsujinken requests one-time rights on successful submissions - all other rights revert to  authors upon publication. We request a six-month window prior to any | all reprints. We prefer reprints credit Katsujinken as original publisher of said work.

We're willing to read previously published works, we discourage simultaneous submissions. We rarely run anything longer than seven thousand words; there's no minimum word length. At Katsujinken we do not require a query letter, except for interviews; however, professional presentation is important along with excellent subject matter.

We try to respond within three to six months. As a new creation - we are already receiving quite a few submissions - don't become overwhelmed by a wait time - reach out to us via email (submissions@katsujinkenmagazine.com) or telephone (703-270-9440) and we'll talk with you. Submissions should be typed, double-spaced, and accompanied by a self-addressed, stamped envelope. Poems may be single-spaced. Your work will not be returned without sufficient postage, and we cannot respond unless a return envelope is provided. Do not send your only copy. We accept e-mail queries too.
