Aug. 26, 2011 - PRLog -- Play is one of the many diffusion brands of the Comme des Garçons empire. Play Comme des Garçons is a younger men's and women's casual streetwear with bug-eyed heart logo which was created from the New York graphic artist Filip Pagowski.

Filip Pagowski is a New York based artist who studied painting, illustration and poster design at the Warsaw Academy of Fine Art. He works for Comme de Garcons, Le Mode, Talk magazine, Sask 5th Avenue, The New York Time, Diane von Furstenberg.


Comme des Garçons was founded by Rei Kawakubo in Tokyo. Today it is one the most important brands with numerous lines designed by Rei, Junya Watanabe and Tao Kurihara including Comme des Garçons Shirt and Comme des Garçons Play.

Although Rei Kawakubo founded and opened the business in 1969, the company was not officially established until a few years later, in 1973. In Japan, the business became triumphant in the fashion industry in the mid-70s and added to their product line, for men, in 1978. In 1981, there was a show in the Paris location, which was a first appearance of Comme des Garcons and its leading fashion in “distressed” and “black” materials used in the clothing line. During the 1980s, this line of apparel frequently had a shattered appearance to it.


Since the opening of the company, there are now more than 12 boutiques and at least 200 merchants worldwide. Since 2004 Comme des Garçons have developed a market based department store concept, stocking their main collections, other brands such as Play and a wide range of international designers, their original market store called Dover Street Market is in Mayfair in London. In 2010 they opened I.T Beijing Market Comme des Garçons which will be followed by a new market store in Ginza, Tokyo in 2011.
