Levi Roots captures the flavour of Yorkshire!

Aug. 26, 2011 - PRLog -- Mr Roots, ‘Reggae Reggae’ Sauce entrepreneur was guest speaker at the ‘UnITe Launch Evening’ on 6th June, at Sheffield City College.

As part of the enterprise celebrations Chris Simpson, a National Enterprise Academy student studying at Sheffield City College presented the YorkshireBadges.co.uk project alongside House of Logos headed by Mark Elliott, a local entrepreneur involved with the College. Levi Roots was given a Yorkshire Badge and presented with a commemorative cartoon of his visit created by House of Logos cartoonist Mick Daines. The cartoon captured the sights and scenery of Yorkshire with a hint of Reggae spices!

The Peter Jones Enterprise Academy at Sheffield City College enables budding young entrepreneurs to learn skills and build networks to support them in starting up a business. Mark came into College to give a presentation about his business, House of Logos, which specialise in the manufacture and supply of lapel pins and promotional items. The presentation covered all aspects of business from initial concept, brainstorming, branding, marketing and what to think about when creating characters or logos. Being born and bred in Yorkshire, one of the products which Mark supplies is the White Rose of Yorkshire lapel pins, mainly supplying councils who use them on their ceremonial visits. Chris approached Mark after his presentation with the view to creating a website for the Yorkshire Rose items with the idea of selling them online and donating a percentage to Yorkshire charities. Chris is from Leicester but has put his roots down in Sheffield, having being here for the past 12 months. Chris has been made an official friend of Yorkshire and wears the badge with pride. This is a perfect example of what the NEA was set up to achieve, to integrate real businesses with students and develop ideas.

We are calling on all Yorkshire businesses to help by adding a picture link of the Yorkshire Rose to their website and nominate a Yorkshire charity they want to support. 15% of all online sales goes directly to their nominated charity. The YorkshireBadges.co.uk project is a venture between Chris and Mark. Chris has been studying business at the NEA and runs his own IT company called ‘Karma Computing’ which has been set up to create websites, analyse data and complete search engine optimisation. This is his specialist field of expertise which has helped to bring the Yorkshire Badges project online.
