HeartSine® Technologies Donates Lifesaving AED to Camphill Special School

Advanced technology and innovation provides reliable lifesaving treatment to children and adults.

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

PRLog (Press Release) - Aug. 25, 2011 - HeartSine® Technologies, Inc. (http://www.heartsine.com), a world leader in personal and public access defibrillators, announced the donation of the samaritan® PAD 300P Public Access Defibrillator to Camphill Special School, a community and a school serving children and young people with intellectual and developmental disabilities. HeartSine’s lifesaving Automated External Defibrillator (AED) is now available for Camphill staff enabling them to administer treatment in the case of Sudden Cardiac Arrest (SCA).

SCA occurs when the heart cannot pump blood effectively and often strikes without warning with devastating results. It can happen to anyone, regardless of age, race or gender. When it happens, there’s little time to react and no time to think. Administering CPR is not enough. It is a temporary measure that maintains blood flow and oxygen to the brain. It will not return a heart to a normal rhythm. Only defibrillation – the sooner, the better – can return a heart to a normal rhythm.

“Our life-sharing community is home to over 150 people of all ages, spanning from two- to eighty-four-years old, both with and without special needs. While we hope never to have to use the AED from HeartSine Technologies, we know it will serve us well in case of a cardiac emergency. We are grateful for this contribution from HeartSine Technologies,” said Carsten Callesen, Director of Therapeutic Services.

“The HeartSine samaritan PAD was designed for use on children and adults. With its simple two-button operation and voice/visual prompts with clear instructions, the HeartSine samaritan PAD is easy-to-use and will guide rescuers through every step, including pad application, shock delivery and CPR,” said Marc Lawrence, HeartSine senior vice president. “We’re pleased to provide Camphill Special School with the power to save a life.”

Camphill Special School is a nonprofit Pennsylvania Approved Private School and Waldorf school accredited by AWSNA and the Middle States Association of Colleges and Schools Commissions on Elementary and Secondary Schools.
