About the Rhino Box®, An All-Weather Transportable Equipment Shelter
The costs and challenges associated with outside deployment of communications and IT equipment and systems limits the effectiveness of critical public safety, military, and industrial operations. The Rhino Box® from Metric Systems Corporation solves the problems associated with all-weather deployment. Based on the field-proven Pelican-Hardigg Mac Rack enclosure, the Rhino Box® Shelter integrates into a unified system the power, environmental, and interface capabilities required to operate nearly anywhere on the planet in nearly any climate.
Originally developed to support the deployment of the U.S. Customs and Border Protection’s wide-area two-way communications network deployed in the remote desert and mountainous locations of the U.S. Southwest and Northwest. The Rhino eliminated the need to build new or upgrade existing permanent equipment structures. With the ability to support internal equipment load weights of up to 200 lbs. and 1000 Watt equipment loads in a -40° C to 70° C temperature range, the Rhino reduces the cost of deployment and ad to increased organizational readiness.
Using the Rhino Shelter enables pre-staging and operational deployment in hours. Factory installed optional capabilities include an anti-dust and sand ingestion system, external and secure wireless network and wireless interfaces, maintenance interfaces, and an integrated anti-ballistic internal barrier. It is available in 9U to 21U case sizes.
