Local Teacher to Bring Ford’s EcoBoost™ Gas Challenge to Olathe for Community Service Day

Aug. 24, 2011 - PRLog -- WHAT:   Ford Motor Company’s EcoBoost™ Gas Challenge community service day is coming to Olathe. Ford selected eight contestants nationwide to take part in the challenge. Every contestant will be receiving a Ford F-150 equipped with EcoBoost™ to inspire community members to give back and, ultimately, two free gasoline giveaway events for the winner’s city.

Kansas City’s EcoBoost™ Gas Challenge contestant, Chris Tracy was selected to represent Kansas City; Tracy is a Life Science teacher at California Trail Middle School in Olathe and creator of the Every Man’s Auto Blog.  

As part of the community service day, Tracy is teaming up with volunteers from surrounding communities to host a drive to construct Heart to Heart International disaster kits.

Heart to Heart International is locally based and is a volunteer-driven efforts organization, that provides medical education, delivers medical aid, responds to people in crisis and addresses community-health concerns around the globe.

On September 2, the winning contestant’s city will receive free regular-grade gasoline, up to 15 gallons per person, at two local stations for 2 hours and 22 minutes-- in honor of the 22 MPG the Ford F-150 EcoBoost™ delivers on the highway.

DETAILS:   The donation of care kit items below are appreciated and can be dropped off at California Trail Middle School. Monetary donations can be made out to Heart to Heart International.

Care Kit Contents:
•   One hand towel
•   One washcloth
•   One wide-tooth comb
•   One 10-15 oz. bottle of shampoo
•   One individually wrapped toothbrush
•   One 4-6 oz. tube of toothpaste
•   One individually wrapped bath-size bar of soap
•   Ten adhesive bandages
•   Two one-gallon-size, zipper-seal plastic bags
