Aug. 24, 2011 - PRLog -- A new employment visa bill recently submitted to Congress would limit use of the H-1B business visa to companies with a majority of American workers.  The H-1B visa is a temporary work visa given to foreign workers with specialty skill sets working in specialty occupations that allows them to work in the United States for a specified period of time.  Companies such as foreign IT firms who employ a majority of their employees from overseas would be impacted if the bill became law because their ability to get overseas help would be severely limited.  Some employers and workers may actually welcome the proposed change as competition for American jobs has become more and more intense.  Employment of foreign workers in the U.S. has always meant lower wages and more opportunities for select businesses to benefit from this type of labor.

In addition to employers attempting to bring over workers on employment visas this bill may also affect foreign workers who are trying to renew their visas.  Because the individuals themselves cannot apply for H-1B visas, the employers are required to shoulder the expense, increasing the companies’ costs.  If it becomes more difficult to bring over skilled labor and renew visas these companies will have to turn to immigration attorneys for help navigating the laws.

The number of H-1B visas that can be issued each year is limited, so many employers may be outraged by any change to the U.S. immigration laws that make it even harder to utilize foreign talent.  On the other hand, more jobs for Americans may help suppress opposition to the bill.  For more information on H-1B visas visit the website of the immigration attorneys of Heartland Immigration at http://www.heartlandimmigration.com or call them for a free consultation at 1-855-USA IMMIGRATE.
