SALT LAKE CITY, UT (August 24, 2011)  – Highland High School RAMS will kick off the new school year using the phenomenal power of music to change, move, transform and unlock during an interactive drumming session called, Unlock the Rhythm TM.  Highland High School students and faculty will gather together Wednesday, August 24, at 1:30pm in the school auditorium, 2166 South 1700 East, Salt Lake City, Utah 84106.

Each of the 1,600 students, ranging from ninth to 12th grade, will be equipped with a pair of Rhythm Sticks. “This hands-on experience offers students the opportunity to experience diversity through rhythm awakening the primal sense of play and our capacity to tap into those parts of our brain and body that carry us to higher places of awareness and empowerment” says Nina Rodriguez, Grammy Award-winning percussionist and facilitator of the program.  Rodriguez explains, “The Unlock the Rhythm TM sessions will energize Highland High School students to build collaboration, further leadership, share vision, honor cultural diversity, and feel the power of success.”
