BedBug Bully Acquaints with Overreacting Hospitals Imposing Strict Bed Bug SOPs

Two hospitals in Vermont impose a bed bug policy that they think can prevent infestations of the said crawlies. As an SOP, the patient must be asked first about any bed bug exposures and other bug bite experiences in the past.

Aug. 23, 2011 - PRLog -- The hospital staff of Fletcher Allen and Central Vermont medical centers needs to ask a patient about past bed bug exposure before admission. This is the latest policy of the said Vermont hospitals in order to get rid of bed bugs.

The policy covers from a assessing the bed bug background of a patient to the extent of having his belongings and clothes undergo a heat-treatment process to ensure no bed bug will penetrate the hospital. It came to the point that the state entomologist commented that both Fletcher Allen and Central Vermont are overreacting.

Patients’ opinions on the said policy vary. The main point is that the two hospitals are making an effort to get rid of bed bugs and avoid any inconvenience to their confined patients. However, BedBug Bully suggests a better process on getting rid of bed bugs which other hospitals are already doing.

Other hospitals already had prevented the comeback of bed bugs using BedBug Bully solutions. What made them choose the products is because it doesn’t bring harmful chemicals that may cause danger to the patients in hospitals. It is a non-toxic solution but according to the hospital staff who tried the BedBug Bully spray, it is almost unimaginable to kill bed bugs in less than a minute. However, the BedBug Bully made it all possible.

“The state entomologist himself, Jon Turmel, said that Fletcher Allen and Central Vermont hospitals’ bed bug routines show that they are being overreactive.  It is a standard operating procedure on both hospitals to ask patients about their past bed bug experience.”

“Before admission, patients have to be asked by hospital staff about any bed bug exposure or unexplained bug bites. Those who have yeses will be isolated in a room and will be required to change his clothes to hospital garb. All his clothes and belongings will be then heat-treated and the rest.”

“However, Turmel added that he is not against about how the hospitals react rather than no reaction at all. This new policy has contributed in a way to decrease bed bug infestations in the said hospitals. Some other hospitals across the country needed not to do all the processes. What for? They have a better and more convenient way of preventing the bed bugs…. using the most effective Bed Bug Spray solution.”

“In addition to asking for your birth date and health insurance coverage, two Vermont hospitals have made it standard operating procedure to ask patients if they’ve been exposed to bed bugs.”

“Central Vermont Medical Center in Berlin and Fletcher Allen Medical Center in Burlington developed a new set of procedures to prevent the bedbug scourge from infecting their hospital rooms.”

““We’ve had an increase in central Vermont … we had patients in the ER with bites,” said Erica Baker, infection preventionist at Central Vermont Medical Center. “We needed a process to prevent infestation here.””

“The hospital’s policy, posted at registration, requires patients to talk to hospital staff about “bed bug exposures” and unexplained bug bites. Want to bring luggage, backpacks or even your pillow into the facility? Think again. You’ll have to use a hospital pillow and put your clothing in plastic bags. Prevention, as the saying goes, is its own reward.”

“Dawn LeBaron, vice president for hospital services at Fletcher Allen, said that while the hospital has had no problems with bed bugs, it decided to explore preventative measures last year when bedbugs became a news item.”

““The best thing is to prevent getting them here in the first place,” she said. “All of the bedding is changed on a regular basis. Everything is stripped, and mattresses wiped down with disinfect.””

=================================

It is good to know that hospitals are considering their patients not to be a victim of bed bug bites. Bed bugs are one of those pests that are most difficult to clear out especially in hospitals that they cannot  use strong chemicals to effectively kill the bed bugs.

That is why BedBug Bully is highly recognized by public establishments like schools, offices and hospitals where it is almost impossible for people to stay away while treating an infested area. BedBug Bully does its job without the need to evacuate or clear the things up in the area. It is toxic-free so it is safer than what you expected. Nevertheless, when it comes to efficiency, no hospital would claim that BedBug Bully wasn’t effective enough. It is so far, the most reliable and safe bed bug solution at hand.
