The Cape & Islands Green standard focuses on a wide spectrum of improvements, using both minimum thresholds and flexible levels of implementation. Improvement examples include ZeroEnergy Design’s reduced business energy consumption, the decision to purchase of 100% renewable energy, waste reduction through recycling and reuse efforts, honed buying practices that focus on environmentally compatible products, and employee education about fuel efficient transportation choices.
“The standard is clearly aligned with our firm’s priorities, so the decision to participate was straightforward. Moving through the verification process provided a healthy review of current operating practices that would benefit any business”, said Adam Prince of ZeroEnergy Design.
The Cape & Islands Green program was organized by a collective of environmentally conscious business owners, with support from the Cape Cod Chamber of Commerce, the Sandwich Chamber of Commerce and the Community Development Partnership.
