IIFT SURAT: Candid with Manish Malhotra at Lakme Fashion Week Winter Collection

Aug. 23, 2011 - PRLog -- The summer warm is over and it’s the chilling winter along with Fashion Week time with Lakme Fashion Week Winter Collection kick which aired from 16th Aug-21st Aug 2011.
IIFT Surat, the premier center of Gujarat can be highly associated with the fashion, latest trend & fashion designing because of its best foot forward for optimum outputs in every fashion related segment, so how we left this opportunity.
IIFT Surat has put yet another golden feather in its cap & has made a novel benchmark in the arena of fashion education by making its presence at the reputed & India’s premier fashion & lifestyle event- Lakme Fashion Week. It has provided great opportunity to its students for being a part of this promising show in both summer as well as winter Collection. We followed the show twice on 18th & 20th Aug 2011 respectively.  The students were exposed to the latest prêt collection of various designers- Pallavi Goenka, Sanjay Hingu, Parvesh & Jai, Babita Malkani n many more. The dresses were elegant & very wearable.
The enthusiasm & excitement of all the students & faculty could barely be controlled.
The show started heating up with fluorescent shades & the best part was its opening with the popular singer Raageshwari in printed harems & sexy top serenading the audience with the hit song “time of my life” & Michael Jackson hit “we are the world”. Also, Sanjay Hingu’s perfect Indo-Western fusion look on the ramp with the chocolaty male models almost took our breath away.
LFW is gearing up to be to be full of great new concepts & initiatives. One such initiative this season was the introduction of a 2nd showcase area titled “talent box@the source for stall-only designers. We were the lucky one to watch one of those talented designers- Manjaree Jindal.
The whole show was mesmerizing be it the models that cat walked on the ramp attiring designer clothes or be it the source area exhibiting the innovative fashion silhouettes. IIFT Surat students couldn’t move their eyes from the sizzling showstoppers- Mrinalini Sharma (the charming model & actress), bollywood star- Neha Dhupia & the very fragile beauty bollywood’s talent darling Kalki Koechlin who gracefully glided down the ramp.
Not only we saw but also we captured their beauties on our camera by giving away outstanding poses with the eye-catchers of LFW viz., Manish Malhotra, Shaan, Mayank Anand, Shraddha Nigam , Tv actors from Love Ne Mila Di Jodi Chandana Sharma & Parmeet & many more. Even our students were looking not less than models n I am sure if they would have been allotted a chance to walk, they would have competed all others!!!
Well... the ultimate motive of this visit was to gain practical exposure which will take our students to new heights of fashion & that seems to have been fulfilled!!! So, on behalf of IIFT Surat, I would like to extend this gratitude to the team of LFW for giving us another successful trip to Mumbai.
LFW has really left spark in the hearts & minds of IIFTians, be it students, staff or faculties & it’s a lifetime memory that every one of us will cherish.
I wish & hope that this journey from IIFT Surat to Grand Hyatt continues & we could be a part of more such fascinating fashion shows & keep on sharing such mind-blowing experiences with all of you!!!
