Catering Veteran Turns Restaurateur with New Baltimore County Bistro

Larry Schwartz pops the cork and opens the door on LARRY’S 1332

Aug. 22, 2011 - PRLog -- With thirty-five plus years of fine catering and event management in Maryland and the greater New York metropolitan region, Larry Schwartz continues to dazzle palates with his newest food  venture – LARRY’S 1332.  Larry is delighted to bring traditional fare with fresh, inventive flavor combinations that have become his signature. Unpretentious, yet original, the menu at LARRY’S 1332 uses completely fresh, often local, ingredients with flair.
“The opportunity for me to take over this space in Baltimore County came at the perfect time in my career,” says Larry.  “LARRY’S 1332 will continue the catering tradition that I am known for, but now diners can enjoy the cuisine we make for special occasions, every day.”   In addition, Larry is able to use the space to execute his first passion - catering.
Located  five minutes from  I-695, at 1332 Sulphur Spring Road in the heart of Arbutus, Baltimore County, the restaurant has undergone a transformation under Schwartz.  With $40,000 in renovations, Schwartz has added new restroom facilities, removed a bakery counter, taken down walls and made other cosmetic changes as well.  His signature Navy blue floors ground the restaurant and the tables and seating all have a new look.
“The menu reflects my personal commitment to experimenting with flavor combinations,” says Larry.  “Exploring the salty and sweet in a minted watermelon soup with feta or waffles with turkey in blueberry infused maple syrup, all while remaining true to the classic favorites our customers have come to enjoy.”  Larry adds, “We hope to not only be a favorite dining spot in Arbutus, we look forward to becoming a dining destination.”
Fare for lunch at LARRY’S 1332 includes daily soup specials, fresh salads including specials with seared Ahi tuna and signature sandwiches like Larry’s crab cakes and citrus chicken salad.  Dine-in service for lunch is 11AM-3PM, Monday through Friday and the restaurant serves a take-out audience for local businesses and delivers for lunches and business meetings.  The restaurant space is available for early-morning and evening meetings.
Schwartz will open on Friday evenings for dinner mid-September (actual dates TBD).
“We look forward to welcoming diners from the BWI Business District, University of Maryland Baltimore County, Catonsville residents, as well as our Arbutus locals,” says Larry.
As a high-end caterer, Schwartz has provided catering at major event locations in and around the greater Baltimore area, including the Walters Art Gallery, Baltimore Museum of Industry and American Visionary Arts Museum.  He hopes to continue his tradition of fine catering out of LARRY’S 1332 where they can do everything from a food ‘drop’ to managing an entire soiree from set-up to break-down including the provision and coordination of theme décor, servers and staging.  He is meticulous about taste and presentation, but admits neither he, nor his food, has an ‘ego.’
Larry’s portfolio includes Director of Catering and Special Events for the President and Chancellor of The University of Maryland College Park and The University of Maryland Foundation, Catering Director for all Alumni and Board of Regents events and Director for Concessions, Press Box and Athletic Activities.   He has created and executed one-of-a-kind events for non-profit, corporate, academic, health care and social communities from Boston to Atlanta.
In addition, he served as General Manager of a highly-acclaimed, multi-faceted catering operation in New Haven, Connecticut, serving New York and Massachusetts and most recently launched and managed the in-home entertaining division of Cameo Catering
For lunch reservations, catering or carry-out LARRY’S 1332 can be reached at 443.304.2841 or 410.967.4950.  New website, www.larrys1332.com, coming soon!
