Follow on Google News | World Party fun to bring crowds to SwanseaSAMBA Tawe will start festivities when the annual World Party event comes to Swansea on Saturday.
By: City and County of Swansea The dance and percussion group will start their performance in the city centre before making their way to the Museum Park stage at noon on Saturday August 27. Samba Tawe was incepted in 1994 and are known for their evocative and energetic mix of Brazilian, Cuban and African rhythms. The group is made up of drummers and dancers and has now swelled to over 60 members. World Party is being headlined by UK Bhangra artist H-Dhami, Irish group the Porters and American country band Ponchartrain. Over 12 community groups from across the globe will be also represented at the event to share insights into their heritage through interactive workshops, music and dance. Traditional clothing, crafts and delicious food will be on display and visitors will be treated to a fantastic programme of live music and performances by artists and communities. Cllr Graham Thomas, Swansea Council's Cabinet Member for Culture, Recreation and Tourism, said: "This is a fantastic event that will bring atmosphere and crowds of people to the city centre and Museum Park. "Visitors can expect a kaleidoscope of colour, movement and infectious music. "It's our aim to attract as many quality events as possible to the city centre to boost local traders and leave visitors with positive impressions of Swansea."
