The two year Diploma in Screen Acting is the first of its kind in Australia as it focuses on the skills and knowledge required for acting on screen, which includes post production.
The Media Entertainment and Arts Alliance (MEAA) statistics show that 85% of an actor's career-long income will be derived from television. As there is little work available in the Australian Theatre industry, for most actors the medium of screen will be their bread and butter. The rise in quality Australian television productions, such as the Underbelly Series, is making it easier for new actors to be recognised nationally and internationally and opens up a larger number of doors into the industry.

The duration of the Diploma Course is 1380 hours, delivered in 20 hours per week, over a two-year full-time program. Screenwise also offers a wide range of short and long-term courses tailored to suit beginners to advanced actors. For information on entry requirements, how to apply and fee structure, please contact the Screenwise office.
Screenwise is also excited to announce that they are doubling in size. In August 2011 they will expand into the floor space next door of their Surry Hills office. This means more rehearsal space for students, an additional acting studio and a self-testing room for those who wish to audition for overseas productions.
In industry related news, past Screenwise students Isabel Lucas and Chris Hemsworth are taking Hollywood by storm at an increasing pace. Aside from Lucas' highly anticipated role as Athena in Immortals (from the Producer of 300 and to be released later this year), she also picked up the Star of Tomorrow Award at the 13th Annual Young Hollywood Awards.
Chris Hemsworth has been busy reprising his Thor character, is starring in The Avengers (with Chris Evans and Scarlett Johansson) and is gearing up to star alongside Kristen Stewart (The Twighlight Saga) and James Franco (127 Hours) in Snow White and the Huntsman, from Producer Joe Roth (Alice in Wonderland).
