Ethics Thrown Out as Excite.com Unscrupulously Charges Users Hidden Fees

Excite.com ticket buyers enraged at the hidden fees the company is charging are complaining and describing the service as unethical and unfair.

Aug. 21, 2011 - PRLog -- Internet ticket buyers are enraged at the hidden fees charged by Excite.com’s ticket buying website (excite.com/events) that lures you in with discounted prices then charges devious fees on top of them.  Users will be disappointed to know that Excite.com is promoting themselves as a discount ticket site only to mislead users into purchasing tickets that they think they are getting good deals on.  As word has spread around about the unethical practices that Excite.com is promoting the internet has become ablaze with dissatisfied customers and people angered at the thought of being cheated.
Excite.com has managed to legally safeguard themselves from any class-action or individual lawsuits as angered ticket-buyers are redirected to the small print on the check-out page.  The page does in-fact explain that there will be additional fees associated but the print is hidden in such a way that it is not surprising so many users are getting duped.  The additional fees mentioned are not even clearly specified, employing the use of undescriptive words such as “costs associated” and explaining delivery costs without definitive prices or estimates.  One outraged buyer explains “many websites don’t tell you the extra fees as you make the decision to buy but clearly detail them once you have made it as far as the checkout page” explains Daniel E. Lofaso. “Excite.com gives what you think to be the final cost on their website then hits you with a huge extra charge on your credit card moments later.  I myself got hit with an added $35.00 for the additional fees and charges!  Mr. Lofaso’s delivery fee for two standard-delivery paper tickets alone was $15.00.
The airline industry has been prone to these types of complaints but in their defense at least they are clear what final ticket prices will be upon checkout.  Excite.com is malicious and highly unethical in its representation of discount tickets especially as it concerns a time period in which people are trying to save a buck.  Southwest Airlines is praised in what has now become a symbol of ethics with their ad campaigns and policy of “No Hidden Fees.” Hopefully this can teach companies like Excite.com a thing or two about pleasing customers.  Excite.com was unavailable for comments for this article.
