Evidence-Based Counseling Certification Life Coach Certification for PTSD & Depression

Efficacy of empirical data in counseling and life coaching occurs when constants are measured and changed and legitimacy of the data occurs when it is generated by the client. The constant in counseling and life coaching is one's emotional state.

Aug. 19, 2011 - PRLog -- Accountability and an evidence-based solution for PTSD, depression and suicide prevention have been at the forefront in the military for several years. During this time hundreds of millions of tax payer dollars have been spent on research to find a solution.

In 2008 a study released from Rand called “Invisible Wounds of War” addressed the issue of PTSD, major depression and the rising suicide rate in the military. At the time the Rand study was released there was a discipline which had already been compliant with the Rand study for over a decade. This discipline is Subconscious Restructuring® or SR® and takes a significantly different approach when compared to current modalities used in the military or the behavioral health system.

The focus of SR® is on how each individual processes their life events from the deepest level of the subconscious as opposed to analyzing why someone was traumatized by an event. This enables one to interrupt restructure and reprogram a traumatic event which continually replays in the subconscious and causes repeated emotional distress.

In order to know if a solution works data must be collected but the question is what data needs to be collected to indicate whether a proposed solution is working. Efficacy of empirical data in counseling and life coaching occurs when constants are measured and changed and legitimacy of the data occurs when it is generated by the client. The constant in counseling and life coaching is the clients’ emotional state. Measuring, monitoring and improving this constant is what brings about the efficacy of an intervention.

With twenty one years of data collection SR® has taken data protocol a couple steps further with a three instrument checklist which also monitors the effectiveness of the counselor or life coach. The primary instrument used in the SR® baseline is an “Emotional Checklist” which addresses a full range of emotions and indicates if the client is showing symptoms of depression.

All who are certified in the SR® process are required to use the three instrument checklist. The SR® Behavioral Health Network provides a fully interactive EHR which enables both counselor and client to monitor progress from a central location worldwide.

PTSD case and group studies using the SR® paradigm have set a new standard in regard to the timeline with just four hours to show a marked improvement. Follow-up is determined by several factors including age, gender, education and use of drugs or alcohol.

SR® Case Study
Case Study Notes: In 2004 this Marine was in the battle for Fallujah when he was struck with shrapnel from an RPG and suffered a traumatic brain injury.
