Prem Singh, as an artist, loves to work with the hues and shades of gold, silver, copper, bronze and pearl, and finish his art-work with an outline of charcoal. Talking about this colour-scheme, the artist shares, “Right from my childhood I was fascinated by the shining and sparkling things around. Embroidery, jewellery, festivals and fairs held a special charm to me. Palaces embellished with gold and silver added joy to my soul. All this inspired me to further explore the use of gold, silver, copper, pearl and bronze beyond its conventional use and search the tremendous possibilities hidden in these colours.”
Prem Singh has grown up admiring Indian artists who paint mukats, ornaments, garments, and borders in the art of miniature painting. In his canvases at display on IndianArtCollectors.com, the viewer would be fascinated with the use of gold, silver, copper, bronze and pearl — in as varied a manner as possible. Also to note is the play of light in his paintings. “The palette, the play of light, the changing tones, textures, hues and shades create a music of its own. And in this shine and sparkle of visual music, I experience my childhood,” concludes Prem Singh.
