“This partnership is a win-win for everyone involved.” says McFadden, “When Tyler is in his zone, no batter is safe from striking out. We’re very excited that he’s on our side”
By the end of the 2011 NAIA season, Barrett earned an ERA of 2.79 as opponents struggled to get a hit off the 6-foot-3 220-pound left-hander. This combination of size and speed allowed Tyler to record multiple 10+ strikeout games. He also recently added a cutter slider to his repertoire and has used it effectively as an out pitch.
After the draft, Tyler began his professional career playing Single-A ball with the Connecticut Tigers. In his first game he made his presence known with 2 strikeouts and led the team to a 5-2 victory. Due to his instant success, Barrett was quickly used as a starter in his second game. The manager made the right decision, and the team won 6-0 over the Tri-City ValleyCats. Tyler is pleased with his instant success and he hopes to continue to advance until he reaches the Majors.
