Printing Industry Leader Announces New Sustainability Policy

This new sustainability policy is not new in conception, but rather a culmination of efforts towards a greener future.  While VMS has always followed all government guidelines regarding the environment, it also follows Sustainable Green Printing Partnership Guiding Principles.  

According to Dolf Kahle, “Historically, the printing industry has created a tremendous amount of waste. It became clear to me as the CEO of VMS that as a company we needed to do something to decrease our carbon footprint.  We have a global responsibility to create solutions as an organization and our sustainability policy reflects that shared belief.”

VMS does more than talk about solutions; it encourages these practices within its company.
Employees are pushed to find new and innovative ideas to reduce waste and improve processes within their department.  VMS goes beyond simple compliance with current law and measures its progress to a greener future.  It utilizes its team members to monitor and assess its progress and find solutions in areas of growth.  It works to recycle the maximum amount of waste from the manufacturing process in house, and moves to divert more of its waste from landfill.

The new sustainability policy moves beyond the VMS property.  Visual Marking Systems has committed to working with its suppliers, as well as its clients, to make sure its products and techniques reduce waste, increase recycling, and make use of more environmentally friendly materials.  Building on the success of its Lean manufacturing approach to identifying and eliminating waste through continuous improvement, VMS has already found a host of production areas where simple solutions have created opportunities to reduce excess and increase profitability.
