Aug. 18, 2011 - PRLog -- Pasadena, CA, August 18, 2011 - Seattle's weatherization program has gone in vain. Seattle Mayor, Mike McGinn, won $20 million federal grant to invest in weatherization.

McGinn announced the Weatherize Every Building program in April of last year. The goals were generating 2,000 living-wage jobs in Seattle and 2,000 existing buildings would be improved with energy efficiency equipment in poorer neighborhoods.

Even though the announcement came with great fanfare, Seattle's number is still lagging. Till last week, out of the 2000 homes, only three homes had been retrofitted and just 14 new jobs have emerged from the program.

The process is said to have been sluggish and tiresome. It's almost painful that only the people who got jobs have been among those who attended the meetings.  There's been no real investment for the broader public.

It is surprising that, those who have benefited from the program are not low-income home owners and small businesses that were supposed to be targeted; instead they are hospitals and an athletic club.

People doubt if the original goals are now attainable!
