Trevor had been nominated for an honour but died in August 2010. It was always his wish to see The Monarch's Way designated as a National Trail.
He also formed The Monarch's Way Association, made up of members who are interested in walking and history. It is these volunteers that maintain the trail signage and send back section reports.
His widow, Margaret Antill, asked Colin Ayling, to take over the day-to-day management of The Monarch's Way, with the help of other family members.
They have built a new website, ( http://www.themonarchsway.com) and have asked the Rt. Hon. Anne Widdecombe to become their patron - she agreed.
The Mayor of Fecamp in France, where Charles 11 landed, has been contacted to see if he would participate in the relaying of Trevor Antill's boots.
