Aug. 16, 2011 - PRLog -- [Bangkok, 17 August 2011]  The Thai plastics-rubber sector is expected to turn to technology offered at TIPREX 2011 plastics and rubber exhibition to boost Thailand’s US$2.37 billion export revenue caught amidst the changing US and European markets.

Messe Düsseldorf Asia Managing Director said, “Thailand is indeed a global player in the plastic raw materials and products sectors, and exhibitions like TIPREX continue to play a significant role as a platform to develop, enhance and boost the plastics and rubber industries in Thailand in order to maintain its position and stay competitive in the global marketplace.”

He added TIPREX 2011 – the 3rd Thai International Plastics and Rubber exhibition would open at the end of the month against a backdrop of a vibrant and fast expanding sector which in 2010 saw Thailand export more than US$2.37 billion in plastics to the US and other countries.

Toning down the negative impact of fiscal changes in the US, Payungsak Chartsutipol, chairman of the Federation of Thai Industries, regarded the situation less serious than the “Hamburger Crisis” that caused huge losses to many US financial institutions a few years back, and the “Tom Yum Crisis” which hit hard the economies of ASEAN countries in 1997.

However, he urged plastics and rubber manufacturers to diversify their export markets and mind their risk management and foreign exchange transactions.

“With TIPREX 2011, being held in Thailand during 31 August – 3 September 2011 at BITEC, the Thai plastic industry will have easy access to world class technology and innovations, as well as business and networking opportunities with local and international buyers and sellers,” said Pradit Hiranpradit, honorary president of the Thai Plastic Industries Association.

Chairman of the Federation of Thai Industries – Plastic Industry Club Veerasak Kositpaisal said plastics processors need to continuously improve product quality and productivity to maintain Thailand’s competitiveness in the ASEAN market.
