Follow on Google News | Free Concert in Frisco is a Respite from USA Pro Cycling Challenge CrowdsCarbon Leaf to perform for townspeople and Challenge spectators Aug. 26, 2011, the night before Stage 5 kicks off
With the excitement, packed streets and closures of many roadways, participants can skip the crowds and come to Frisco where businesses and streets will remain open during the duration of the USA Pro Cycling Challenge. Travlers can sit back and relax at the Historic Park with Richmond, Virginia’s Carbon Leaf, a rock band known for its Celtic/Bluegrass sound. The USA Pro Cycling Challenge is the most demanding bike race ever held on American turf with 16 internataional teams and 128 cyclists. The tour begins Aug. 22 in Colorado Springs and continues through Salida, Crested-Butte, Gunnison, Aspen, Vail, Avon, Steamboat Springs, Breckenridge and Golden to the finish line in Denver on Aug. 28. Frisco is a great place to call home for the entire Pro Cycling Challenge, but especially Stage 5, since the route travels just a few miles east of Frisco. The town sits in the middle of Summit County and offers plenty of fun and adventure for Challenge spectators when they’re not camped out on the side of the road waiting to catch a glimpse of the world’s best cyclists. Attendees can scope out a spot to view the race and then relax back in Frisco for the free concert, casual eats and a stroll down Main Street. If watching world-class cycling gets your hamstrings twinging, the Frisco Adventure Park offers varied terrain for all levels of mountain biking.
