QA Graphics Joins COSC, Combining Sustainable Education and Design

QA Graphics has joined the Center on Sustainable Communities (COSC), a non-profit membership organization that serves as Iowa's trusted educational resource for sustainable building.

Aug. 15, 2011 - PRLog -- QA Graphics, a provider of creative solutions used to educate about sustainability, is pleased to announce their joining the Center on Sustainable Communities (COSC), a non-profit membership organization that serves as Iowa's trusted educational resource for sustainable building.

QA Graphics works with a variety of educational institutions, government organizations, and commercial businesses, helping them educate occupants about the sustainable initiatives in place at their building.    With both QA Graphics and COSC’s focus on providing education about sustainability, this relationship was a natural progression.

As a recognized leader in providing education and connecting resources, COSC empowers individuals and communities to make everyday decisions that promote sustainability.  Initially, the organization’s focus was on the residential market and, in 2010, became a USGBC Education Provider. By conveying the value of sustainable building practices to homeowners and professionals early on, COSC has established trusted relationships with, and between, crucial segments of the marketplace.  Their comprehensive educational programs teach best practices that support national standards in all aspects of building energy efficient, affordable, durable, healthy and environmentally sound homes, commercial properties and civic facilities.

QA Graphics looks forward to this new relationship with COSC and anticipates the relationship to continue to evolve as the Midwest’s sustainability initiatives increase. QA Graphics will look to COSC as a respected resource for accurate information about sustainable building practices, and as a design firm, will take this information to provide a creative approach to educating about sustainability.  QA Graphics has developed an award-winning solution, the Energy Efficiency Education Dashboard®, an interactive application used by organizations to illustrate their sustainable building initiatives and create environmental awareness among occupants.

The application can display a building’s real-time resource savings and production to illustrate efficiency, and motivate viewers to engage in energy efficient practices.  Education is provided through a variety of interactive features like environmental tips, quizzes, games and demonstrations that explain how sustainable building features like wind energy, photovoltaics, daylighting or solar hot water benefit the environment. The educational tool can help earn points towards green building certification programs, contributing towards satisfying the U.S. Green Building Council’s® Innovation in Design Green Education and Innovation in Design School as a Teaching Tool credits under LEED®, and a variety of points under The Green Building Initiative’s™ Green Globes® green building rating and assessment system.
