Follow on Google News | Japanese High School Students Visit UN To Thank The WorldOn August 22nd, 4 selected high school students from Japan will visit the UN to thank the world for their contribution to the relief efforts.
By: Satoshi Taniguchi Japanese High school students visit Boston/New York on August18-22 to create a message with artist PESU, and present it to the United Nations August 15, 2011 TOKYO -- Over 5 months has passed since the devastating earthquake in Japan. Many countries and individuals have contributed to the relief efforts. As a response to these efforts, 4 high school students will visit the United Nations on August 22nd to thank the world. They will visit the following missionaries. 9:30-10: 10:30- 11:00- *negotiations are on going with other countries *the meetings will all be held at the United Nations Prior to the earthquake on March 11, over 160 nations and international institutions have offered assistance to Japan. On the grassroots level, movements such as the "Pray for Japan campaign" have gathered great attention and resources for the relief effort. In response to these efforts, 4 high school students will tour Boston and New York to thank the world. - August 19 and 20 The high school students will talk to researchers and university students in Boston (inc. MIT and Harvard) to think of society they need to build, and the role they will have to play in the future. - August 21st The high school students will move to New York, and create an artwork with NY based Japanese artist PESU, expressing their thoughts to the world. - August 22nd The high school students will visit the United Nation missionaries of the countries that offered assistance to thank the government and the citizens for their help. The 4 students participating were selected in July in "NextJapan Resolution" contest. In this contest, over 50 high school students expressed in 140 letters their appreciation to the world and their commitment in playing a role in building the post-tragedy Japan. "We hope that this study tour will be an opportunity to remind the world of the good that can come out when we all join hands in times of tragedy.
