VIVOTEK Launches New 3-Megapixel Fisheye Camera Offering 360-degree Surround View

(TAIEX: 3454), an industry leader in megapixel and HD IP camera technology, announced today the availability of the new FE8171V 3-Megapixel day/night dome camera to the market. The FE8171V is VIVOTEK’s first camera equipped with a fisheye lens for a 360-degree surround view that can capture a wide field of view without blind spots from a ceiling or wall mount. With high image quality in 3-Megapixel resolution, the camera also features an IP-66 rated outdoor housing, removable IR-cut filter, H.264 compression, and EN50155 compliance which make it an ideal solution for applications including airports, shopping malls, retail stores, transportation, and much more.

The FE8171V is integrated with VIVOTEK’s latest image processing technology for clear, usable surveillance video. Software is used to dewarp the distorted images captured from a fisheye lens and displays them with multiple layout options, including surround view, 180-degree (wall mount)/360-degree (ceiling mount) panoramic views, and regional "quad" view to meet different surveillance requirements. The panoramic and regional viewing modes in particular allow for ePTZ functionality whereby a user can digitally zoom in to focus on multiple areas of interest. The software development kit for the FE8171V has been made available to leading third-party CMS platforms, ensuring open platform support for the camera and increasing flexibility of usage for installers.

VIVOTEK’S new FE8171V supports triple-codec compressions, including H.264, MPEG-4, and MJPEG, allowing video streams to be transmitted in any of these formats for versatile applications. The streams can also be individually configured to meet different constraints to further reducing bandwidth and storage requirements. Users can receive multiple streams simultaneously in different resolutions, frame rates, and image qualities for viewing on different platforms, including mobile applications.

In addition to its already rich feature set, FE8171V is equipped with 802.3af compliant PoE and two-way audio with built-in weatherproof microphone.
