News 12 CT Honors Wilton Residents As Hometown Heroes

Aug. 15, 2011 - PRLog -- Members of the Pelletier family from Wilton were recently honored as “Hometown Heroes of the Week” by News 12 Connecticut for their volunteer efforts dedicated towards helping less fortunate children in Romania.  Throughout the year, News 12 Connecticut’s “Hometown Hero of the Week” highlights ordinary people who do extraordinary things.  

While most families look forward to spending their summer relaxing, this year the Pelletier’s decided to spend their summer helping children at an orphanage in Romania.  Prior to leaving for Romania, the family raised money to buy essentials and toys for the children at the orphanage.  They were aided in their effort by members of the Wilton community, along with members of the Romanian Children’s Relief Program.  After returning to the U.S., Eric Pelletier noted, “I hope these children get placed in foster care with wonderful families and that they continue to receive much-needed donations of clothes and diapers.”

The popular “Hometown Hero of the Week” segments have been a regular part of the News 12 Connecticut line up every Wednesday for more than five years.  “At News 12 Connecticut, it is part of our mission to cover the good news that is happening in our area,” said Tom Appleby, News Director of News 12 Connecticut.  “The weekly ‘Hometown Hero’ piece is one of the ways we can spotlight individuals who are changing lives for the better, right in our own backyards.  News 12 Connecticut is proud to honor the Pelletier family as part of this tradition.”
