McArthurGlen East Midlands Welcomes The UK’s Most Extreme Sports Stars

Aug. 15, 2011 - PRLog -- The UK’s top in-line skaters, skateboarders and BMX riders will descend on McArthurGlen’s East Midlands Designer Outlet this Thursday 18th August as part of the centre’s month-long Urban Life and Style celebration.

In the second of three exhilarating shows held at the centre in August, Team Extreme will perform breath-taking stunts, tricks and manoeuvres in front of shoppers all afternoon.

McArthurGlen East Midlands is celebrating its top active fashion brands including Bench, Levi’s and Adidas, which all offer up to 60% less all year round, by dedicating the whole of August to Urban Life and Style.

Team Extreme’s performance follows a freerunning fashion show last week by 3RUN, who modelled Levi’s in a high-energy, thrill-seeking aerial performance.

Donna Goodwin, Marketing Manager at McArthurGlen’s East Midlands Designer Outlet, says,“Urban Life and Style is all about celebrating some of our best-loved active brands as well as treating shoppers to something exciting and a little bit different. Team Extreme’s performance promises to be adrenalin-fuelled and we’re hoping shoppers will watch the show and feel inspired to get involved themselves.”

Launching at 12pm on Thursday, Team Extreme will perform four electrifying shows until 4pm, with up to four workshops in between. Giving shoppers an exclusive chance to try out some of the tricks and manoeuvres they have seen, Team Extreme are welcoming adults and children of any age to join in at the workshops.

A range of in-store promotions will also be available to shoppers on the day who can also take advantage of the extended opening hours until 8pm every Thursday.

Team Extreme consists of in-line skaters Jenna Downing, Rosie O’Donoghue and Doug Peel-Yates; skateboarders Samantha Bruce, Dave Monaghan, and BMX rider Peter Sawyer.

Jenna Downing, 23-year-old professional in-line skater and member of Team Extreme, says, “School summer holidays are always a fantastic time of year to perform for families as it’s a great opportunity to encourage young people to get involved in inline skating and other extreme sports. We’re really excited about performing at McArthurGlen East Midlands and hope lots of shoppers stop and get involved in some of the workshops between shows.”

In the final of the three Urban Life and Style fashion shows, Thursday 25th August sees a thrilling Power Bocker display, as seen in the closing ceremonies of the 2008 Beijing Olympic Games, where performers jump and run with spring loaded stilts.
