How to assure you're getting the best deal with your Shipping Vendor.

Ever wonder why after all your price comparing you’re still over budget for your shipping? Here are a few things to check to see if you are getting the best deals on your freight

Aug. 15, 2011 - PRLog -- How long ago was it since you last looked to see if your quotes matched your final bills? Most people don’t check this, most people assume they were billed what was quoted. Look for those discrepancies and ask why. Have you checked the dimensions, did you get billed at the higher dimensional weight or to see how much your freight had been lost or damaged in transit? If you paid for insurance you’re covered but, customers are holding you responsible for their items, not your shipping vendor. Losing customers affects that budget too.

Picking a vendor is normally the same, doing quotes with as many shipping vendors as possible. Taking the cheapest one, no questions asked.  Some of you stay with the same old companies because you have gotten the known shipper discount. Which, don’t get me wrong those discounts are always helpful, but did they charge you what they quoted you? Did they advise the freight was bigger than you thought; therefore your price went up? Add up all those damaged shipments you have or how many of them were lost. Think about what the vendor did to help find a solution and did they even tell you about it. Even, the worst thought of all, how many customers did using that shipping vendor cost you?

This is just a small list of things to watch for when sorting through those many shipping vendors. Check their past record with you and look into their running records with others. Consider the extra services and incentives offered that can help give you a better deal and protection from the damages and losses. Plus never forget to check your final bills or assume that the quotes are as good as gold. Do these little things and see how much you save.
